There are many ways that you might conceptualize what it means to withdraw a published article from the public view, even temporarily. Depending on your prior experience with other tools, your personal history could cause you to rely on such terms as demote, hide, withdraw, retract, archive, or expire.

At Helpshift, we say "unpublish."

An “unpublished” article becomes hidden from the world at large — either immediately or according to a schedule — and stays this way for as long as you’d like. However, the article is not deleted.

And, because you are its owner, an “unpublished” article remains visible to you. You can consult its details at any time, or even publish it again, should doing so ever become necessary.
