Attachments uploaded by end-users in issues can potentially contain malware. We've introduced a malware attachment scanner that automatically scans these attachments to address this security concern. If an attachment is detected to potentially contain malware, operators receive a warning about the malicious content. This helps prevent the execution of harmful commands that could compromise systems, safeguarding against risks such as system takeovers, overloaded databases, and backend attacks.

Key Benefits

  • Enhanced Security: Automatically scans all attachments for malicious content before downloading.

  • User Alerts: Provides warnings to proceed cautiously if malicious content is detected.

  • Flexible Download Options: Option to download or skip potentially harmful file attachments.

  • Visual Previews: Provides thumbnails and previews for safe image attachments.

Operator Experience

The Malware Scanner checks for malicious content when an attachment is uploaded. If malware is suspected, warning alerts are displayed on potentially malicious attachments.

Here are the various Operator experience scenarios while scanning attachments:

Scenario 1: Malware scan in progress

When an attachment is uploaded, the Malware Scanner checks it for malicious content. If you attempt to click on the file during this process, you will receive a warning before downloading.

Scenario 2: Malware scan is completed, and the file is safe to download

If the scan is complete and the file is safe, it will be available for download without any warnings.
If the file is an image, it will be displayed as a thumbnail.

Scenario 3: Malware detected during Scan

If malicious content is detected, a warning status will be displayed. If you attempt to download the file, you will receive a warning as shown below. You can then choose to proceed with caution or skip the download.

Scenario 4: Malware scan time out

If the malware scan times out, the status will indicate this. If you attempt to download the file, a warning will appear, and you can choose to either proceed with the download or skip it.
