Defining Out of Support Policy: “When an OS is no longer supported, Helpshift will no longer provide bug fixes or technical guidance from Engineering or Tech support teams. Helpshift will not explicitly block old, unsupported OS from being used.”
We will no longer support Google or Apple OS versions, which are not supported by these brands. In general, this means that we expect to support a specific OS for 5 years after release.
Old OS versions have been backtraced accordingly to calculate the no. of years to support them.
Every year, we will update the supported OS versions by adding new OS versions and evaluate the ones falling out of support, and support for exceptional OS versions will be extended for an additional year.
Since Apple/Google controls OS support, it is possible that support may be extended or shortened, resulting in multiple OS versions ending support life in a single year.
As shown in the above table, Technical Support will drop at the year’s end for mentioned OS versions. Major SDK X release of that year will not support OS versions dropping at year-end.
A Major SDK X version will be supported for 2 years post its release.
For example,
As per policy, the 10.4.0 release of 2024 should support Android 7+ and iOS 14+.
For the previous 10.3.0 version released in 2023, technical support will be dropped for Android 7-9 and iOS 13 at the 2024 year-end. Complete technical support for 10.3.0 will end at 2025 year-end.
Based on the above points and table, the following would be the support policy for SDK X Versions:
SDK X Version
Release Year
End of Technical Support
[Year End]10.2.x
2022
2023: Android 7-8 ; iOS 12
2024: All
10.3.x
2023
2024: Android 7-9 ; iOS 13
2025: All
10.4.x
2024
2025: Android 7-9 ; iOS 14
2026: All
Note:
Since Microsoft has ended support for Xamarin, we will not be updating Xamarin Plugin. SDK X 10.2.0 was the last release for Xamarin whose technical support will end at 2024 end in alignment with above described policy.
With SDK X 10.4.0, the minimum compilable version for Android will remain at API Level 16. SDK X would work only on devices with Android API 24[Android 7] and above.
